The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have been handed a big blow. Their star player and captain, Sanju Samson, is slated to miss their upcoming fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The wicket-keeper batter had suffered a side injury during their last game loss to Delhi Capitals.
"Samson is currently undergoing recovery and will remain at the team's home base (Jaipur) with select RR medical staff. As part of his ongoing rehab process, he will not be travelling to Bangalore for the upcoming match against RCB. The team management is monitoring his progress closely and will take a game-by-game approach regarding his return to action," Rajasthan Royals said in a statement.

Riyan Parag to lead in Samson's absence
Riyan Parag will once again captain the Rajasthan Royals for their next game in Sanju Samson's absence. RR will take on RCB on Thursday, April 24. Earlier this season in IPL 2025, Parag took on the captaincy duties while Samson was injured.
Sanju Samson previously suffered a finger fracture during the IND vs ENG series and missed out on the ICC Champions Trophy. He also played as an impact substitute in the opening few games only as a batter. After the BCCI medical team gave him the clearance, only then did he keep wickets.
Coming to the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025), things have not been an easy season for the Royals. The Rajasthan outfits are currently placed eighth in the IPL 2025 Points Table. The side has managed to pick up just 2 wins from their 8 games and will be keen to grab more wins on a trot to continue their hunt for the IPL 2025 Playoffs.
